(Lincoln, NE) - The Nebraska Corn Growers Association (NeCGA) awarded Senator Bob Kremer, of Aurora, Neb. the 2007 Golden Ear Award during the Nebraska Ag Classic in Kearney, December 12, 2007. The Golden Ear Award is presented annually to recognize and thank individuals for their contribution to agriculture, the corn industry, and the NeCGA.
Senator Kremer is a cattlemen and farmer south of Aurora, NE and was elected to the Nebraska Legislature in 1998 and then re-elected in 2002. Over his years as a Senator he sat on many legislative committees, including Natural Resources; Business and Labor; Committee on Committees; Banking, Commerce and Insurance Committee; and most recently as the chair of Agriculture Committee. Senator Kremer has also been involved in many local, state and national leadership, livestock, commodity and production organizations.
Through his dedication and hard work, Senator Kremer has been the recipient of many awards, including Map Maker Award, Award of Achievement, Public Service Award, Best Friend Award by the Friends of the Nebraska Environment Trust and Public Service Award.
The NeCGA Board of Directors also elected new officers for 2008 following the conference. The new officers are listed below.
Randy Uhrmacher of Juniata, NE was re-elected President of the NeCGA. Uhrmacher oversees all functions of the organization. He represents the Adams-Webster Corn Growers Association. Uhrmacher serves as co-chairman of the Government Relations Committee and also represents Nebraska as a delegate to the NCGA Corn Congress.
Brandon Hunnicutt of Giltner, NE was re-elected vice-president of the NeCGA. His responsibilities include direct oversight of the NeCGA’s six standing committees and carrying out the duties of president, if needed. Hunnicutt also serves on the Research committee.
Larry Mussack of Decatur, NE was re-elected treasurer for 2008. He will oversee all finances of the association. Mussack also serves as Natural Resources Committee Chairman.
Joel Grams of Minden, NE was elected as secretary. He will oversee the association’s records. Grams also serves on the Field Services Committee.
Steve Ebke, Daykin; and Larry Mussack, Decatur were the At-Large directors elected at the meeting.
NeCGA is a grassroots commodity organization that works to enhance the profitability of corn producers. Now in its 29th year of service to its members, NeCGA has 2,000 dues paying members in Nebraska. NeCGA is affiliated with the National Corn Growers Association, which has more than 31,000 dues paying members nationwide.
